SMOK IPX80 Kit Review: The Amazing Pod System !
After refining the Aegis, Geekvape released the Legend series. This was a major turning point for Geekvape and the Aegis line is one of the most popular mods of all time. This is mainly due to how difficult they are to break and the fact that they are IP67 rated for waterproof capabilities. Geekvape became very popular among people who worked outdoors or in construction.
This IP67 trend has become so popular that every vape manufacturer I can think of has made their own iteration of it at this point.
Which brings us to the SMOKE IPX80. This appears to be the perfect marriage of the modern pod system, with all the features of the mods IP67 style. So how does it hold up against its peers? Today we take a look at the SMOK IPX80.
SMOK has made a few forays into the super durable, waterproof mod market. Most recently, this technology was used in the SMOK Arcfox, which we really liked! It was a great kit and used the same technology as the new IPX80.
The biggest difference is that the SMOK IPX80 is almost like a mix of two SMOK products. They have the durability of the new Arcfox, with rubber lining and waterproof properties. But you also have the portability of my personal favorite...the RPM series.
I'm a big fan of the RPM series and even use it as my daily driver lately. It has the power I need while still being a comfortable size to carry around. I'm not usually very rough with my vapes, but the IPX80 looks like the more durable version of my RPM80. Let's take a closer look at all the features:
SMOK IPX80 Kit Review: The Amazing Pod System for an Apocalypse!
Let's start by talking about battery capacity. The built-in 3000mAh battery is equivalent to a powerful 18650 and should last you all day! I usually like mods with removable batteries, but that's a lot of power! Especially if you use the DC MTL coils. You can easily get all day out of this battery.
SMOK also took the RPM pod idea and refined it to 5.5 ML. That's a lot of juice! For comparison, the original Baby Beast Tank held about the same amount of liquid. With the SMOK IPX80, you don't have to worry about refills all day.
The airflow is also really cool here and needs a few points from the Geekvape Aegis line. It's shaped like a ring that you spin to control how much airflow you get. This can be seen on the original Geekvape mods too, and it works really well. Because there are so many different coil options, you will need different airflow depending on the coil. Speaking of…
I love that SMOK has kept the tradition of putting two different types of coils in the box for you to try. Personally I like the DC-MTL coil. But if you like higher wattage and sub-ohm vaping, then the mesh coil is definitely for you. You will be surprised how powerful this little mod can be!
The taste of all RPM series coils is really great and it seems like SMOK has upped the game in terms of quality control. I had no problems with the RPM coils. They generally last a good week or so, and I think that goes without saying when it comes to most pre-made coils.
The TFT screen is simple and easy to read. It has everything you need with no submenus or settings. It's just the basic wattage, ohms and number of puffs you've taken. The round design looks just like the larger Smok mods like the G-Priv without the added flair.
Aesthetically, the SMOK IPX80 really works for me. It had the same rugged design as other IP67 rated devices, with rubber binding to help should you ever drop it. You also have a choice of accents like leather, carbon fiber and colors.
Important Note* While the actual SMOK IPX80 itself is definitely waterproof, the PODS are not. If you drop your kit in the water, make sure you empty the capsule, clean it and replace the spool immediately.
Who knew how big the market for ultra-durable, waterproof mods would get? But I definitely see the appeal. When I worked for a vape shop, I was constantly getting customers who would break their mods and tanks. Sometimes it was just an accident, others it was because the person worked in construction or landscaping.
For me, this is exactly the type of person the SMOK IPX80 is made for. Being outside all day makes things easy to drop. These IP67 certified mods can save you from having to replace your mod every time you drop it or get it wet. The size is also very portable and easily fits in the pocket.
So if you like long-lasting pod mods but need a little more power than most of these pod mods offer... SMOK has you covered with the IPX80! Get yours today at the best price and free shipping!
