What is the difference between a tobacco heater and an e-cigarette?

THE TOBACCO WARMER IS REAL TOBACCO

The first and biggest difference that defines the entire design and operation of a device is its "fuel". In the case of e-cigarettes, we are dealing with special liquids, i.e. a mixture of glycerin, glycol, flavors and nicotine. On the other hand, tobacco heaters offer us the possibility of vaporizing real tobacco in specially adapted inserts

Both devices do not generate cigarette smoke when in use - this is the phenomenon closest to the generation of water vapor for these devices. How is it different from tobacco smoke? First of all, it is not formed by combustion, but by increasing the temperature of the substance. Classic cigarettes burn at about 900 degrees Celsius, which causes them to emit more chemical compounds, formed as by-products of this process. Tobacco warmers and e-cigarettes require lower temperatures to release the nicotine contained in the tobacco or liquid. It is worth remembering that the absorption of vapor from an e-cigarette or tobacco heater still has an impact on our health and is only a way to potentially reduce the harm caused by traditional smoking.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION - TOBACCO WARMER AND E-CIGARETTE

We already know that we use e-liquid in the e-cigarette, while in the heater we use tobacco in a specially adapted cartridge, but it does not burn. How does this translate into the functionality of both of these devices?

We will put a liquid in the e-cigarette, which is in a liquid version. When we pour it into the tank, it soaks into a special cotton wool used in the heating element and is evaporated from it, producing water vapor, resulting from heating the substances contained in the liquid. The whole process can be compared to placing an electric heater in a vessel with water - the heater heats up under the influence of electricity and gives off some of its temperature to water.

The tobacco heater, due to the use of real tobacco adapted for heating, must work slightly differently, because it is necessary to increase the temperature of the insert without burning it. The achievement of this goal is ensured by the heating technology - the tobacco insert is heated with a heating element placed inside or around it. In this way, it can evenly reach the temperature level without the risk of overheating.

TOBACCO WARMER AND E-CIGARETTE - DIFFERENCES IN VARIANTS

Due to the fact that we use an insert filled with tobacco in the tobacco heater, the experience of using it will be more similar to the use of traditional cigarettes. Liquids offered for e-cigarettes come in many variants and aromas, but we must remember that in the tobacco heater we come into contact with the taste of real tobacco. Which option we like more depends only on our individual preferences.

TOBACCO WARMER AND E-CIGARETTE - DIFFERENCES IN DAILY USE

Due to the specificity of both these devices, you can guess that they differ slightly in everyday use. Once again, tobacco heaters show a greater resemblance to traditional cigarettes than e-cigarettes. After about twenty puffs, the cartridge is used up and must be replaced in order to continue using the device. Additionally, before heating it up to an appropriate level, we have to wait a dozen or so seconds.

In an e-cigarette, the situation is different, because we usually do not use the entire liquid tank for one session. It does not have to heat up, so the e-cigarette is ready for action all the time and it is only up to us how many puffs we will make for one session.

As you can see, these two seemingly similar devices differ significantly from each other. Both are designed to potentially reduce the harm associated with traditional smoking, but this is the only similarity between the two. So what are the biggest differences between these devices?
