Basic error messages on the MODs display

Almost surely each of you has encountered messages such as "atomizer short", "check atomizer" and "no atomizer". They are the bane of new EIN users and can upset many old stagers. Until we deal with them, the use of the e-cigarette will be impossible.

Different manufacturers use different markings for the same error. The most common ones are "atomizer short". In this article, I will tell you about the most common reasons why these messages appear, and what to do to fix them.

Short circuit

In ready-made heaters clearomizer s, it is usually caused by a manufacturing defect of the heater itself. In RTA / RDA / RDTA clearomizer s, the reason is most often the installation of an oversized heater and its contact with a part of the clearomizer  chimney or too delicate tightening of the screws holding the heater in a given position.
Solution: when using ready-made heaters, check that you have installed the heater correctly. If it still does not work, replace the heater with a different one. In the event that the new heater is activated, the reason is a factory defect of the previous heater. If you use an evaporator with an RBA base, check the possibility of contact between the heater and the chimney and tightening the screws. Insulator failure

Almost all Clearomizer now use PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) insulators to separate the positive from the negative poles. Any damage to the insulator leads to a short circuit, and thus - pop-up message "atomizer short".
Solution: most often the problem lies in the insulator at pin 510 of the atomizer. Unscrew the pin and check that the insulator is not damaged.

Sometimes it is the fault of the poor finish of the mod itself and the combination is damaged over time. 510 pin can also be too long or too short for a mod, which is relatively rare and indicates poor power design or performance.
Solution: In this case, unfortunately, you will do nothing, as long as you do not have a tinkerer's streak. Try atomizers with longer and shorter 510 pins.

Heater resistance too low

The power supplies differ in the range of the supported resistance of the heaters. If the heater you want to use has a resistance lower or higher than that supported by the mod, you will get the message "atomizer low" or "check atomizer".
Solution: it is worth remembering that burnout of the heaters in RBA base atomizers will eventually slightly increase their resistance. If the resistance is too low, it makes sense to add a few coils to the heater. If, on the other hand, you use factory heaters, try using other heaters with higher resistance.

Mod damage

E-cigarette users are sometimes ruthless with their devices. Be careful of any leaking liquid that may damage the electronics or the connection to pin 510 of the evaporator. Also, do not over tighten the atomizers. You can break the pin this way!
Solution: take care of your e-cigarettes. Even when you get messages like "atomizer short" and the power supply is sometimes working and sometimes not, consider whether it is worth risking your own health. If you have a tendency to drop mods or flood them with liquid, try devices that are IP67 or higher, making them water, dust and shockproof.

Damage to electronics

Electronics in e-cigarettes, as in all other devices, can be unreliable. If the above-mentioned methods did not help, you tried other vaporizers and took care of your mod, most likely the message "atomizer short" is simply a failure.
Solution: There is no sensible way to deal with a broken chip on your own. The only thing that can help is advertising your hardware, if you still have a warranty on it.

As you can see, the "short atomizer" is not the end of the world. Most often, this is a problem that can be solved in minutes. Remember that display messages are there for a reason and usually prevent accidents. On the other hand, devices are getting cheaper. Manufacturers often save on electronics. Choose proven equipment and buy it in places with clear complaint rules.
