E-cigarette for beginners - what should you know?

The electronic cigarette market is constantly developing, offering us more and more devices with different specifications and functions. For a person just starting their adventure with e-smoking, the variety of options available can be a bit overwhelming. What will be the e-cigarette best suited to the preferences of novice users?

How does the e-cigarette work?

Before we look at what the different types of e-cigarettes are, we need to take a moment to understand how they work. It is not complicated and getting to know it will make it much easier for us to choose our first device.

The basic feature of the e-cigarette, i.e. the lack of a combustion process
In the case of e-cigarettes, we are not dealing with the process of burning tobacco, characteristic of classic cigarettes. The carrier of nicotine in electronic cigarettes is not raw tobacco, but a special e-liquid based on glycol or glycerin. The nicotine contained in the liquid begins to be released when its temperature increases along with the vapor generated by the evaporation of glycerin. We cannot talk about smoke here, because it is characteristic of the combustion process, which in this case does not occur.

However, it is worth noting at this point that the fact of using e-cigarettes does not remain neutral for our health. The use of e-cigarettes or tobacco heaters should be considered in the context of reducing the potential harm associated with traditional smoking, and not as a completely safe and healthy alternative . In addition, remember that e-cigarettes also contain nicotine, which is a highly addictive substance, harmful to our health.

E-cigarette for beginners - open and closed system

While the general principle of electronic cigarettes remains the same, the types of e-cigarettes vary considerably. A novice user may have a problem with distinguishing them, let alone choosing the perfect solution for them. So what should we pay attention to when we buy our first e-cigarette? To begin with, let's introduce a simple division into e-cigarettes operating in closed and open systems.

Closed system

The biggest features of this solution are simplicity and intuitiveness. In an electronic cigarette operating in a closed circuit, the liquid reservoir is a replaceable part of its structure. This means that the heating system is closed with the e-liquid in the cartridge. When we use up all the liquid placed there, we do not have to add it, because we just replace the entire cartridge.

This is a good solution for users who value simplicity and convenience of use. We will not experience any problems with the heating system here, as it will only run until the fluid is depleted, which simply means it will not be used up. An additional feature of the closed system in e-cigarettes is also that these devices are more compact and handy than their counterparts operating in the open system.

Open system

Most types of e-cigarettes exist in an open system. This solution is more advanced when it comes to its daily use, but it gives a different e-smoking experience. The open system is based on a removable heating unit, commonly known as a heater. In this way, the liquid reservoir can be filled with e-liquid while it is in use, and when the taste or feel of e-smoking deteriorates, the heating unit should be replaced. One heater is enough for about two weeks of using an e-cigarette, but there is no rule here, it also depends on the user.

With intensive use of the device, the heating system wears out faster. You should also remember to properly refill the e-liquid in the tank. If there is not enough of it, our heater may overheat, as a result of which it will not be suitable for further use and it will be necessary to replace it. Due to their different design, open-system e-cigarettes will typically be slightly larger than closed-loop e-cigarettes. This does not necessarily mean a disadvantage, because the larger dimensions of the entire device also mean a larger battery and longer operation time.

Types of e-cigarettes - which one to start with?

When choosing your first e-cigarette, it is best to focus on ergonomics and convenience of use, because the excessive number of activities necessary for the proper operation of the device may discourage us at the very beginning. Devices based on a closed system work better here, because all we have to do is replace the cartridge when it runs out.

The distinguishing feature of the closed system, however, is its better functionality - it allows us to add e-liquid at a convenient time, so we do not need ready-made refills. The open system also allows us to achieve a different airflow when using it, which translates into the feelings associated with it. Unfortunately, the presence of a removable heating system means that the open system is not as maintenance-free as the closed one. In order for it to work properly, we must remember to replace the heaters on a regular basis.

What e-cigarette for beginners - summary

The types of e-cigarettes offer us different ways of handling and the experience of using them, so the question of preferences should always play a key role when choosing our device. At the beginning, e-cigarettes based on a closed system will be better, due to their ease of use and maintenance-free. However, on the other hand, they can be an inefficient solution for someone who needs to use their e-cigarette frequently, as frequent replacement of cartridges can be cumbersome.

In this case, even a beginner may decide to buy an e-cigarette with an open system, but must remember that this solution requires his more attention and side activities. We should also remember that e-cigarettes also have an impact on our health and can only be treated as a reduction in the dangers of traditional tobacco use.
